It's the most wonderful time of the year!
Here are all the prompts that you wonderful participants have contributed this time. Anyone can now write fic of any length for any of these!
For
BiffElderberry:
Likes: AUs (College, coffee shop, etc), fake relationships, kid/family fic, slow burn, supernatural shit, arranged marriages, situational irony, comedy in general, soulmates, fluff, hurt/comfort, whump, omegaverse.
Dislikes: 1st or 2nd person POV, dead animals, second hand embarrassment, necrophilia, haunted dolls.
More like and dislike information can be found at my general exchange letter.
Hamlet - Hamlet/Horatio, Hamlet/Laertes, Hamlet/Fortinbras (younger or older), Hamlet/Cladius, Hamlet/Ophelia, Hamlet/Ophelia/Laertes, Hamlet/Rosencrantz/Guildenstern, Rosencrantz/Guildenstern Or anyone else you want to write about - I'm a sucker for Hamlet whump. Please feel free to hurt him however you want. A few specific prompts are:
*Cladius arranges for Hamlet to marry Fortinbras to get him out of the way. Hamlet is not a fan of this arrangment.
*Omegaverse AU where whoever gets Hamlet pregnant wins the throne.
*Cladius gives Hamlet to Laertes when Laertes wants repayment for his dead family members.
And I've run out of ideas. Of course I'm really open to anything you want to write, so if you don't like my prompts then you can do whatever :D
Romeo and Juliet - Romeo/Mercutio, Benvolio/Mercutio, Rosaline/Juliet - I'll be honest it's been a very long time since I've read this one, but these are the pairings I remember really standing out to me. Whatever you want to do with them, Modern AU or Coffeeshop AU could be fun. I'm open to Romeo/Juliet as a pairing but I'd rather it not be an end game pairing.
MacBeth - The three witches, Lady MacBeth & The Three Witches, MacBeth/Duncan, or anyone else you suggest- I saw a high school production of this a few years back and loved it (and not just because my niece was in it.) I think the most interesting characters were the witches and I would love a fic about them. I think another good idea would be Lady MacBeth being found by the witches and taught witch-craft by them. Honestly I don't remember Lady MacBeth's fate in the play.
Julius Caesar - Brutus/Caesar, Anthony/Brutus or anything else - A college AU could be really fun with this setting. Or something else, whatever you feel like writing!
For
Lexigent:
Likes I like AUs in alternate geographical locations and time periods. I'm also into humour/crack, darkfic, non-traditional relationships, and friendship-/family-focussed stuff.
Dislikes No graphic sex please.
As You Like It - Rosalind & Celia, Rosalind/Orlando, Orlando - This play messe with gender so much and I LOVE IT. I would like to see something that explores characters coming to terms with their sexual and/or gender identity; realising they are not as straight and/or cis as they thought they were. Prime candidates for this are Orlando, Rosalind, and Celia.
I would also really like somethign that explores Rosalind and Celia's relationship after the play. Part of me feels that Celia only gets married because she's in a lot of pain over losing Rosalind. While I would ideally like to see them work out a QPR, you can put them together romantically if that works better for you."
The Two Noble Kinsmen - Arcite/Emilia/Palamon or Arcite/Palamon - Fix-it fic where Arcite doesn't die. More than any other Shakespeare play, this one cries out to be solved by way of polyamory, but a modernised version with Arcite/Palamon at the end and the ladies not mad or married off would be A++.
Othello - Othello and/or Desdemona - Some backstory about how Othello first came to town and how he worked towards his position. A story from the point of view of Desdemona would be super.
The Tempest - any - psych ward AU. Prospero as the psychiatrist, Ariel, Caliban and Miranda as patients. Diagnoses up to you (just please do your research) but suggestions: Ariel has anorexia and a history of abuse, Caliban has dissociative identity disorder and a history of neglect, Miranda is Gifted and has anxiety. Ferdinand can be in it as a fellow patient or outside visitor, or not - you decide.
A Midsummer Night's Dream - any - Something that delves into the darkness of the play. Demetrius is under a spell and Helena sort of knows but also doesn't want to know? How do they navigate their relationship post-play? Does it feel ""off"" after a while? Or does the spell wear off and if so what happens then?
Alternatively or additionally: Helena/Hermia. There's such a gorgeous description of their friendship in the play, what if their relationship was romantic and/or sexual for a while? Or became so (again) after the play? "
Hamlet - Laertes - Some backstory for the angry young man. His family serves Hamlet's and they're the same age, so he'd have grown up seeing Hamlet get things that he either couldn't have or would have had to work for very hard. There's jealousy in both directions there, and some dark and twisted thing where they both want to be each other but also obliterate the other. I'm just saying, hatesex/drunk makeout sessions are a thing that could happen here. And then... how does it feel when Hamlet starts dating his sister?

Dislikes No non/dub-con, please, if you go sexytimes-ward.
Hamlet. Whatever you want, just go for it - but I'm curious about the horror possibilities.
Macbeth. Whatever you want, just go for it - but I'm curious about the horror possibilities.
Julius Caesar. Whatever you want, just go for it - but I'm curious about the horror possibilities.
The Tempest. Whatever you want, just go for it - but I'm curious about the horror possibilities.

I like humour and crack, AUs set in different time periods, but remaining in Europe. Either friendship or established relationships are good, I'm not a particular fan of first times.
No graphic violence, no graphic sex, no incest.
Julius Caesar - Any/all from Cassius, Brutus, Caesar, Mark Antony, plus others, but only pairings to be canonical ones - dictators and those resisting them have been a part of history, both British and continental Europe, since Roman times (and before), so an AU in any time period would be great.
Macbeth - any characters/pairings - something involving the misdirection of prophecies/horoscopes etc, whether deliberate or accidental. Either serious or humourous.
Hamlet - pairings up to you but Ophelia/Horatio appeals (!) - one morning Hamlet wakes up and decides to get everything sorted, an AU, can be humourous
King Lear - the three sisters - early 1900s AU, either Suffragettes, or WWI
Titus Andronicus - any characters - modern AU featuring the powerful Andronicus family, either business or politics
For
Solanaceae:
femslash, deep exploration of well-developed/complex female characters, reincarnation, complicated relationships, worldbuilding, see author letter for more.
rape or sexual violence, non-canonical or detailed suicide, graphic self harm, mpreg, ABO, watersports/scat/vomit, cross-generational (parent/child, etc) incest, any underage sexual scenarios, necrophilia, bestiality, vore, extreme kink. (Generally, I would rather not receive a very sexually graphic or solely sex-centric fic for this exchange.)
Midsummer Night's Dream - Helena/Hermia, Titania/votaress woman -
Helena/Hermia
Childhood friends-to-lovers? AU where the conflict in the play is that they're in love with each other? Some other AU? I'm always going to be into sci-fi scenarios for this and any other character/pairing.
Titania/votaress woman
Relevant passage:
His mother was a votaress of my order:
And, in the spiced Indian air, by night,
Full often hath she gossip'd by my side,
And sat with me on Neptune's yellow sands,
Marking the embarked traders on the flood,
When we have laugh'd to see the sails conceive
And grow big-bellied with the wanton wind;
Which she, with pretty and with swimming gait
Following,--her womb then rich with my young squire,--
Would imitate, and sail upon the land,
To fetch me trifles, and return again,
As from a voyage, rich with merchandise.
But she, being mortal, of that boy did die;
And for her sake do I rear up her boy,
And for her sake I will not part with him.
For this pairing, I'd love it from the woman's POV, what it's like to be a mortal involved with the fairy queen. I like the idea of a darker Titania that's an embodiment of the more savage and terrifying parts of nature. Or... an AU interpretation of Titania in a different setting, like space.
Hamlet - Ophelia
Give me a look into Ophelia's head, tell her side of the story! I'd love seeing her character and motivations developed. Bonus points if she survives her canon death. Bonus bonus points for a historical/modern/futuristic AU.
Macbeth - Lady Macbeth, Three Witches -
Lady Macbeth
I love a lady with complex motivations and morals. Honestly, Lady Macbeth is possibly my favorite Shakespeare character, so absolutely anything with her would be great. Show me her in all her power and all her weakness. I wouldn't complain about an AU where she lives, either ;)
Three Witches
Where did they come from, who are they, what do they want? What does their role look like in a historical/space/other AU? What other manipulations have they taken part in, what other historical events might they shape? Is there conflict within the group?
Romeo and Juliet - Juliet, Juliet/Rosaline -
Juliet/Rosaline
Forbidden love, except gay - basically the way to my heart is to take any well-worn trope and make it gay.
Juliet
AU where she doesn't die, but has to deal with the grief of losing Romeo and navigating the political ramifications of what's gone down. Juliet-centric retelling of the whole play in a different setting.
